The Flame

It blazed with raging heat to consume me,
tendrils of flame searing into my heart.
Burning into my soul to become a part
of the lust that assailed so acutely
my heart; to then subside to even flame.
You, the fuel that stokes the passion within,
requiring more to feed the fire within.
Loves hunger compelling me to proclaim
the depth to which the burn has seared my soul.
And now the flame to glowing embers fall.
No more a soul consuming inferno
but now the pleasant warmth of well banked coals
that hold the lasting heat that can forestall
the cold that loneliness may oft enfold.
